$3.99

Every swashbuckling buccaneer needs a beloved pirate hat to complete their outfit! The tricorne hat, also known as a three cornered hat, is the classic pirate hat. This style of hat was popular during the late 17th and 18th century, then referred to as Cocked Hats.
Tricorne hats have a rather broad brim, pinned up on either side of the head and at the back, creating a triangular shape. The hat is typically worn with the point facing forward.
Your hat can be made from felt and accessorized with decorative trim, feathers, hat pins, buttons, ribbon, tulle, etc. Directions are given for making a rosette medallion also known as a Cockade.

Historically, cockades were used on hats to help identify or associate the wearer to a particular group or position. Cross Bones artwork is included to make an iron-on patch.
This PDF sewing pattern can also be used to make a Cowgirl Hat by cocking two sides or a Cavalier Hat by cocking only one side of the hat brim. It’s so easy you will want to make more than one.
